Kaiser Strike

Access Alert - Potential Kaiser Northern California Strike

CA Bleeding Disorders Community Members -

We want to alert you regarding possible disruption of pharmacy services for Kaiser Northern California patients.

Kaiser Permanente has received a 10-day strike notice from the labor union representing their pharmacists for a work stoppage from November 15 through November 22. Plan ahead and refill your prescriptions and ensure you have appropriate blood factor products and supplies on hand before November 15th. Specific questions regarding your factor supply should be directed to your hematologist as soon as possible so you can pick up any additional medications you may need prior to November 15th.

Kaiser is in on-going contract negotiations with the Guild for Professional Pharmacists, the union that represents pharmacists in Northern California. They hope to reach agreement before November 15th and avoid the work stoppage but patients should plan ahead and be prepared in case the stoppage moves forward.

Kaiser patients should have received a notice directly from Kaiser alerting you of the potential pharmacy closures. The notice reminds patients to go to kp.org, use the mobile app or call 1-888-218-6245 (available 24 hours) to have medications delivered to your home. Deliveries usually arrive in 2-3 business days. Hospitals and emergency departments will remain open and they have contingency plans in place.

Kaiser Northern California includes the service areas of Napa-Solano, Greater San Francisco, Marin-Sonoma, Diablo, Greater Sacrament, Redwood City, Central Valley, East Bay, Fresno, Greater Southern Alameda County and South Bay.

Please contact your doctor directly or HCC at 916-572-7771 or info@hemophiliaca.org if you have any questions, concerns or trouble accessing your medication.
